28th March 2022 (perhaps you would like to read Joshua 9)
“….So the men partook of their provisions, and did not ask direction from the Lord. And Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation swore to them”. Jos 9:14-15
After Moses died, God appointed Joshua as leader. God told Joshua that He will guide him as He guided Moses. Joshua always paid careful attention to God’s guidance and obeyed it, so he always had victory. This one time Joshua did not pay attention to God, he acted on his own. However, God did not act against Joshua but allowed him to keep his promise to the people of Gibeon. These two vs give me a very clear image of God: He does not look for opportunities to punish /He is always forgiving, knowing we are weak / His love is greater than our weaknesses / His love is steadfast and not shaken by the way we offend Him / what kind of image would you draw? (Thanks to Jane for this beautiful reflection. God is pleased with obedience. Let us put our full trust in God Almighty). Cynthia Abegail for New World
