The Shield of Faith: Reflection by Jane Pimenta of Prayer Aid

 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.   Eph 6:16

I like the picture this vs creates.  Our faith is the shield that will not allow the evil one’s attempts to agitate and confuse us and consequently take us away from the Lord.   We stand firm in our faith when the darts of worry, fear, anxiety  are thrown at us and by our faith, we (with difficulty for sure) we trust.  This is a daily striving to stay in faith.  But gradually we will see that we are not so easily influenced by our negative feelings, but the love of Jesus.  Jesus’ hand is always lifted to bless us.  As we allow the shield of faith to sustain us in difficult times, let us share with others how they too can deal with negative feelings.  (Thank you Jane Pimenta for this enlightening reflection about clinging on to God in times of worry and anxiety.  This is necessary to subdue negativity which may plague us at times.  Let us trust God always!  Lord, have mercy!).  Cynthia Abegail for New World).
