Submit our lives to the Lord: Reflection by Jane Pimenta

Afterwards Jesus appeared again to His disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias……. “I’m going out to fish” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.”  So, they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.”  John 21:1 and 3

Jesus had died, they were discouraged, so  Peter decides to take matters into his own hands and go fishing.  They had no success.  We are so much like these 11 men.  We are so easily discouraged, we reject what we think is not good for us, we want only what we want.  The death of my husband made me a widow.  I hated that word, and rejected it all the time!   It was only 14 months after  his death that reflecting on Ps 23 pointed me in a direction that helped me to see being a widow is my life now!  God says :   There will be nothing I shall want.  Only goodness and mercy will follow me, the Lord will lead me when I need to make a decision, He will never let me down.  Only then did I think “this is my life now, as a widow”  and God will fill my net all the time !  let us not hanker for what cannot be, rather let us accept the fact that God watches over us,  we need to walk in His plan and our nets will never be empty.

(What a beautiful, pensive reflection by our great spiritual writer!  I absolutely agree; even my personal life attest to these insights.  It’s not easy to absolutely submit our plans to the Lord.  We tend to assert sometimes our independence.  But there is no way!  Jesus is the only Way!  Excellent reflection….More coming; thanks Jane).  Cynthia Abegail for New World.
