Go and learn what this means, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners. Matthew 9:13
How do we show mercy when we have been hurt? Sometimes seriously hurt? How do we show mercy when we are side-lined? When we are betrayed by loved ones or friends we thought loyal? Experiencing any of this is not a pleasant feeling, our tendency would make us want to withdraw, or hit back, or wage a cold war!
The question before us is : how often have we not offended God by not trusting Him, how often have we doubted His love for us? How often have we done nothing when we have seen someone in need? By rejecting a needy person we have rejected Him. (Matthew 25:40) Yet He never cuts Himself off from us, He never leaves us nor does He forsake us, nor wage a cold war!! Jesus is saying to us that He desires mercy not breaking off relationships. He wants us to heal others like He heals us. Let us pray for this mighty grace today.
(Thanks Jane! Beautiful reflection. Let us beg the Lord for the mighty grace of healing for ourselves and our families.) Cynthia Abegail
